We will begin our day jumping in the clear near-shore Hawaiian water from our customized 20ft. Twin Vee boat to spear reef fish. Our reef spearfishing charters are for people who are ... moreeither beginners, intermediate or advanced freedivers alike. We do, however, require you to have at least basic skills and understanding of diving masks, snorkels, fins and water/ocean orientation and swimming ability.

We will begin our day at 7:30am from the Honokohau harbor and finish the day of reef spearfishing around 1:30pm. Taking into consideration every diver's individual needs we will sit on our customized 20 foot twin-vee boat with comfortable seating for 7 people and discuss your freediving and spearfishing experiences and desires for the day.

After a short trip along our beautiful Kona coast we will suit up and get in the water perusing the depths you are most comfortable with, finishing the dive with lunch and a fresh-water shower waiting for you on the boat.

Like all of our adventures you will have a guide/safety diver in the water with you at all times to help you with anything you might need. Either way, freediving to spear fish for dinner or going for a world record, plan on having fun in a supervised and safe environment.

We will begin our day jumping in the clear blue water from our customized 20ft. Twin Vee boat to spear giant blue water game fish. After meeting at the Honokohau Harbor at 7:30am we ... morewill cruise to several dive locations. Taking into consideration every diver's individual needs we will discuss your spearfishing experiences and desires for the day. After just a few minutes boating along the incredibly beautiful and unique Big Island coastline we will suit up and get in the water perusing the deep blue. You will be guided in pursuit of the island's most succulent open water fish species like Mahi mahi, Ono and Ahi followed by lunch, a fresh water shower and finishing the dive day by 1:30pm.

We supply sandwiches, snacks and water for the divers and chum to attract game fish. We have a captain on the boat at all times to operate the vessel and a dive guide in the water at all times to help locate game fish and help you in any way. For your convenience all of your snorkeling, freediving and spearfishing equipment is included with every charter. We have YouTube videos atyoutube.com/user/BlueWaterHunterVideo for even more entertainment and information.

Sharks are a common concern for many of our divers. Let me assure you that you don't have to worry about seeing sharks because you, with all likelihood, WILL see a shark, or two... You see, we actually hope to see sharks. One of our goals during every charter is to find sharks so that we may show our customers how to "interact" with these beautiful animals. Most people have never seen a shark in the wild so we want to share this amazing experience with everyone in a safe, semi-controlled, supervised environment. No cages, no bang sticks, just our knowledge and experience. We discourage petting or hand feeding the sharks though, sorry. We may also encounter a variety of Dolphins and whales, manta rays and whale sharks.

Even though blue water spearfishing is considered "advanced," it is our main focus. Blue water spearfishing is considered advanced because, typically speaking, the fish are larger and more powerful than your average reef fish. The reality is hunting reef fish in Hawaii requires a lot of skill just to shoot a small fish. Shooting reef fish is gear simplistic but labor intensive, shooting blue water fish is gear intensive but labor simplistic. In other words to shoot reef fish in Hawaii you need a very good breath-hold and knowledge of the fish, but you don't necessarily need expensive, high-tech equipment. Whereas blue water spearfishing may only require a dive to ten feet and to hold your breath for ten seconds but you need very good equipment that can handle the size and power of blue water game fish. The reasoning behind this is fairly simple, many people hunt reef fish whereas blue water fish may have never seen a human. But once a powerful blue water fish is speared they will break inadequate gear or they will simply swim off with it never to be seen again.

Where we find many of our creatures to view and hunt is at our local FAD's. No, that doesn't mean spearfishing has anything to do with the latest trends; a FAD is a "Fish Aggregation Device," or buoy, that is anchored to the ocean floor. Off the Kona coast we have approximately 7 FAD's within reach during daylight hours, however, it is only possible to reach about 3 of the available 7 FAD's during our charters' six hour time frame. Sometimes we will come across floating debris, which may hold an abundance of game fish, sharks, dolphins etc.

Captain Andy's Federal reef fishing permit allows Niuhi customers to spearfish in state and federal waters. Niuhi customers do not need their own fishing license as they will be covered ... moreby the boat's permit. While most other Pensacola boats are restricted to state waters, the Niuhi can take you further and deeper to where the big fish really are.

Florida has arguably the best spearfishing in the United States, and the Pensacola area offers a wide range of spearfishing opportunities not available in other parts of the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic. There are well over a thousand published artificial reefs in the Pensacola area. These reefs range in size from 4-foot reef balls to a 911-foot long aircraft carrier. Because of the robust artificial reefing programs in Escambia and neighboring Baldwin Counties, Pensacola has one of the best red snapper fisheries in the world.

Even bug hunters will find sport on the Pensacola Gulf Coast! Florida Spiny Lobster can be found on the deeper natural reefs offshore, and the delicious Slipper Lobster (Shovelnose) can be found on most wrecks and artificial reefs closer to shore. Shovelnose lobster can be taken year-round. They must be taken by hand (no spears) and no egg-bearing females can be brought to the surface. The same prohibitions against spearing and egg-bearing females apply to Florida Spiny Lobster. There is a Federal, and Florida State Season for harvesting Spiny Lobster, and size limitations. You must possess a lobster gauge if you intend to hunt spineys, and all measuring must take place at depth.

Most spearfishers in our area prefer wooden guns with at least a 48-inch shaft. Rail gun enthusiasts prefer 90cm guns or longer, with 100cm guns being more common. While it’s certainly possible to successfully take trophy fish on smaller guns, it’s not recommended because of the extra distance and power needed to harvest the heavy-bodied fish that are common here.

Out in the open water, there is no telling what you may see...... Your offshore/nearshore Adventure will be indepth and challenging for the first time spearo! That doesnt mean you ... moreshould back out just yet! We can get you in the water and ready to hunt!

Your offshore Adventure could be one of the most thrilling fishing experiences of your life! Outside the pass you have a wide range of sealife that you have the potential to see and hunt. Grouper, Snapper, Trigger Fish, Spade Fish, Amberjack, Mackerel, and Cobia are all possibilities. Sea Turtles, Rays and other marine life make excellent video/photo opportunities!

Offshore/nearshore Adventures have challenges that include; Waves, current and weather conditions that we cannot control. Usually visibility in our area of the Gulf is outstanding, this leads to you having to make longer shots on some fish so you don't "spook" them! This Adventure can be cut short due to weather and we would be happy to take you to an inshore spot to finish out the trip if the conditions become unsafe.Inshore spearfishing can be just as exciting and eventful as offshore. During certain times of the year, the bigger fish from the gulf will move into the pass and bays.

Inshore trips can have hurdles to overcome that you dont experience in the Gulf as often. The tides can play a large role in your ability to see the fish and your surroundings. Reduced visibility has its perks, usually the fish have a difficult time seeing you so you can get a little closer than with crystal clear water, not great for photo ops but can be GREAT for spearing. These trips can be accommodated on a boat or in kayaks depending on location desired and how adventurous you want to make your trip!

Spearfishing Playa del Carmen Mexico is an experience you will soon not forget! Playa del Carmen offers fantastic spots to spearfish. Ledges and drop offs are typical for this area. ... moreYou might run into some good fish at 15 ft or in deep waters as well. Deep Blue spearfishing in Playa del Carmen is simply fantastic.

Playa del Carmen, located between Cancun and Tulum in Mexico, was originally a small Mexican fishing village. Nowadays it is a city very much alive! Miles of unspoiled white sandy beaches, cenotes and a nice blend of a crystal-clear Caribbean ocean and jungle make Playa del Carmen a great destination for holiday visitors from all over the world.

The great thing about Playa del Carmen is that the town has grown parallel to the beach. So wherever you go, you will be close to the ocean. The main street is called 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenida) and it is a pedestrian walkway with many shops, bars and restaurants. From 5 star restaurants or a simple fish taco, the city is characterized by variety and diversity. Whether you like going out until 6am or waking up at 6am to enjoy the sunrise, you will always find something you enjoy to do in Playa del Carmen on your next vacation.

Spearfishing Playa del Carmen Mexico Conditions:
Playa del Carmen Mexico is wonderful for spearfishing with warm waters, ranging between 68 and 85 Fahrenheit (20-30 Celsius). Visibility in Playa del Carmen is 30-100 feet (10-30 meters) making it a very pleasurable spearfishing experience. Most spots are only a 20 minute boat ride away. We spear in Playa del Carmen at depths of 10 to 100 feet (3-33m). Playa del Carmen Coral has coral heads, ledges, drop offs, shipwrecks, and deep blue water.

Spearfishing Playa del Carmen Mexico Skill Level:
Playa del Carmen Mexico is fantastic for those learning to spearfish as well as experienced spearos.

Spearfishing Playa del Carmen Mexico Species Encountered:
Playa del Carmen Mexico has Snapper (Cubera, Red, Mutton, Grey), Grouper (Black, Tiger) Amberjack, Permit, Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo.

On behalf of Private Panama Surf Camp, we invite you to come check out the beautiful clear waters of the Pacific coast of Panama, surrounded by pristine corral reefs and incredible ... moreblue-water pinnacles. This area is virtually untouched by modern times, and your first visit here will be like going back in time! When you dive underwater you will be amazed by the beauty of diversity that is common to this area. Spearfishing opportunities are very diverse, and some of the fish you can expect to be hunting include: Mahi-Mahi (dolphin/dorado), Roosterfish, Blue Runners, Amberjack (up to 90 pounds), Tuna, King Mackerel, Wahoo, Sailfish and Marlin…Uhu’s (parrotfish and bumpheads), Triggerfish (as big as 20 pounds), Barred and Golden Trevally (some up to 15 lbs), Milkfish, Cubera snapper (we usually shoot a few 50 pounders), Dogtooth Snapper, and Snook (up to 30 pounds).

Regarding tactics and spots we employ for spearfishing, we have a few dozen dive sites very close to the camp. These include two river-mouths within half a mile, rock formations with caves, a rocky shoreline right off the surf camp, and many beautiful coral reefs. At your discretion, we take all-day trips to some of the Outer Islands, which is a 15 mile run and is an additional $320 per trip (split between everyone). These Outer Islands are truly amazing and they hold some of the nicest dive spots, including amazing shallow coral reefs loaded with big parrotfish and triggerfish, volcanic rock drop-off's with lots of caves (loaded with snapper), and amazing blue-water pinnacles. Most of the spots are only 10-20 feet deep, but the pinnacles and drop-offs go down past 100 feet (they slowly taper off so they are conducive to any freedive level). The island of Isla Montuosa and the Hannibal Bank is where you find the biggest game fish such as big tuna. 200 pound plus have been caught on recent trip. This is a much further trip (about 50 miles) and there is an additional cost of $900 which can be shared by all the divers.

The accommodations at the Morro Negrito Surf Camp are rustic, but plenty adequate (it’s been described by many as “several steps above camping”). The housing consists of several bamboo and teak cabanas, and mostly metal roofs. There is a comfortable dining area next to the kitchen with a great ocean view, where everyone eats and hangs out. All the meals are very tasty and are prepared by the locals. Fresh fish, chicken, beans, rice, yucca fries, and vegetables are the usual meals. The dining area overlooks a beautiful view of the ocean and there is a TV/DVD for nighttime movie viewing. All the sleeping areas have nets (even though the bugs aren't all that bad). The bathrooms are clean and spacious, and the cold-water showers feel great after a long day in the sun! =) Electricity is produced by both solar and wind power. We have a power inverter that provides 110 volts of electricity. We also have wireless internet available, so bring your wireless internet devices.

We offer either 1 week or 10 day trips for non-stop spearfishermen, and our rates are very reasonable ($750 per week, $1000 per 10 days). Everything is included except your airfare, transportation to the lodge and a few exceptions listed below. Your trip with us starts when you land in the Panama City airport. You are greeted at the airport by David Fernandez and transported directly to the main bus terminal in Panama City to travel on a comfortable and “modern” charter bus, cruising through the villages, mountains and jungle of Panama. The bus will stop about half way to rest and food (also not part of the package). After about 5 hours you will be picked up at the bus stop by one of the dive guides, take a van ride to the boat ramp, and then proceed to our island by way of a "Panga" boat (a cool 30 minute ride). If you have arrived at the port after dark or if their is no water in the port (due to low tide), then you will spend the night in the port in one of casitas that we have built. Early the next morning, our boat will pick you and transport you to the camp and start your diving day.
